Overview

The Hong Kong Palace Museum is a remarkable cultural institution located in the West Kowloon Cultural District of Hong Kong.

The museum is situated at 8 Museum Drive, Kowloon in the West Kowloon Cultural District.
It officially opened on July 3, 2022, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the handover of Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Palace Museum showcases over 900 priceless treasures from the Palace Museum (also known as the Forbidden City) in Beijing.
Many of these artifacts are on display in Hong Kong for the first time, while others have never been shown to the public before.
The museum regularly presents special exhibitions featuring Chinese art and culture, as well as masterpieces from the National Gallery in London.
Current Exhibitions:
YUAN MING YUAN — Art and Culture of an Imperial Garden-Palace:
This exhibition sheds new light on the Yuanming Yuan (Garden of Perfect Brightness), a magnificent Qing dynasty imperial garden-palace.
Over 190 spectacular paintings, architectural models, and other works associated with Yuanming Yuan are featured.
The garden-palace once served as the principal residence of five emperors.
Stories Untold — Figure Paintings of the Ming Dynasty from the Palace Museum:
The first-ever exhibition of historical Chinese figure paintings in Hong Kong.
Carefully selected 81 sets (97 pieces) of exquisite surviving works by around 60 Ming dynasty painters from the Palace Museum collection.
Some of these paintings are national grade-one cultural relics.
Entering the Forbidden City: Architecture, Collection, and Heritage:
Featuring over 100 significant works from the Palace Museum, this exhibition sheds light on the architecture and activities of the Qing court.

Mon, Wed, Thu & Sun: 10:00 am – 06:00 pm
Fri, Sat & Public Holidays: 10:00 am – 08:00 pm
Closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays) and the first two days of the Lunar New Year.
